Somaliland lies in northwestern Somalia, on the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden. Hargeisa is located in an enclosed valley of the Galgodon (Ogo) highlands, at an elevation of 4,377 feet. Hargeisa International Airport (HGA) connects major destinations in Africa and Middle East. The airport was opened in 1954.
